PBM Bill Stalls as General Assembly Heads into Veto Recess

Thank you to our members and colleagues across Kentucky who reached out to your legislators to educate and ask for their support. The profession held strong and created a concise message to the legislature: Put patients first! Unfortunately, the Kentucky Senate chose to look the other way while pharmacies and patients remain at risk.
The Association's commitment to Representative Sheldon and his efforts to pass HB 457 this legislative session remains steadfast. We understood that opposition from the PBM industry and the health plans was inevitable. Still, after overwhelmingly bipartisan support in the House (88-3), we find it odd that HB 457 couldn't even get a hearing in the Senate. The reason behind Senate leadership not even allowing a vote remains unclear. Thank you to our members and colleagues across Kentucky who reached out to your legislators to educate and ask for their support. KPhA's advocacy to put patients over PBM profits does not stop here. We will continue to fight back against PBMs' unfair, profit-driven practices and work closely with our legislators on the state and federal levels to create policy solutions that benefit Kentucky patients and pharmacists alike. Until PBMs are forced to play fairly, we will continue to sound the alarm on PBMs' questionable actions.
