The selection positions Kentucky's own Guthrie at the forefront of shaping national health policy, energy, communications, environmental regulations, and more.
We are excited to announce that Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) has been named the next Chairman of the influential U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce for the 119th Congress. This selection positions Guthrie at the forefront of shaping national health policy, energy, communications, environmental regulations, and more. His leadership will be pivotal in addressing critical issues facing our profession and nation, including healthcare costs and technological innovation. He joins Congressman James Comer (KY-01), who will continue his leadership on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, in holding a gavel while they represent the Commonwealth in Washington, D.C.
"We must work together to restore America's energy dominance and lower energy prices, protect children's online safety and ensure America remains the world leader in technological innovation, and protect access to life-saving treatments while lowering health care costs," said Chairman Guthrie in his statement. "The task before us is significant, but together the House Energy and Commerce Committee will lead the way to restore the American Dream for hard-working families.”
KPhA looks forward to working closely with Congressman Guthrie in his new role to advocate for the pharmacy profession and our shared priorities. He has supported past PBM reform efforts as part of his commitment to keeping healthcare affordable for Americans.
As Congress continues preparing for 2025, remind your Congressman that there is still time to pass PBM reform legislation this year!
