The Kentucky Pharmacists Association is seeking Board Nominations for President-Elect, Treasurer, and three Board of Director positions for the Kentucky Pharmacists Association. You are invited and encouraged to become involved in OUR profession by applying for a leadership position with KPhA or nominating a colleague that KPhA should consider for volunteer service.
Please submit your nominations by completing the online form by February 28, 2023. Please include your CV, a short bio (100 words or 2-3 short paragraphs), a headshot photo, and a statement on why you want to run for office or nominate an individual.
President-Elect (one-year term):
Position description: The President-Elect shall serve an additional year as President and then as Chair of the Board of Directors, respectively, for a total three-year commitment. In the absence of the President, all powers and duties shall be assumed by the President-Elect. The President-Elect shall oversee the nomination process with the assistance of the Organizational Affairs Committee and encourage members of the Association to serve as officers.
Treasurer (two-year term):
Position description: The Treasurer shall Chair the Budget Committee. The Treasurer shall be responsible for all funds and disbursements of the Association. The Treasurer shall be bonded at the expense of the Association for an amount to be determined by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall present a full financial report of the Association's finances at each Annual Meeting and present a full year–to–date financial report at each Meeting of the Board of Directors.
Board of Directors (three positions open for a term of three years each):
Position description: The Board of Directors shall be composed of the following voting members: The Immediate Past President, who shall serve as Chair; the President; the President-Elect; the Secretary; the Treasurer; the Speaker of the House of Delegates; the Vice-Speaker of the House of Delegates; nine Directors; the President of any Kentucky Chapter of APhA-ASP, and a Past President of the Association. Meetings of the Board of Directors shall be held upon the call of the Chair, typically six per year, at the KPhA headquarters in Frankfort, KY. Any member of the Board of Directors who fails to attend two-thirds of the meetings of the Board annually without adequate excuse for absence may be dropped from Board membership by action of the Board of Directors.
2023 KPhA Annual Awards Nominations “If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.” - Booker Washington
Let's uplift our profession by celebrating our colleagues who inspire us and nominate them for one of KPhA's eight awards in 2023. This year's esteemed winners will be announced and recognized at the Ray Wirth Banquet during our 145th KPhA Annual Meeting, June 8-11, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Bowl of Hygeia Award
Criteria – To recognize an individual who has demonstrated outstanding community service in pharmacy.
Eligibility – The recipient must be an Active or Honorary Life member of the Association. The recipient must be a pharmacist with a current valid license to practice in Kentucky. The recipient must be living, awards are not presented posthumously. The recipient has not previously received the award and is not currently serving, nor has he/she served within the past two years on the selection committee or as an officer of the Association in other than an ex-officio capacity. The recipient has compiled an outstanding record of community service that, apart from his/her specific identifications as a pharmacist, reflects well on the profession.
Distinguished Service Award
Criteria- To recognize individual members who have made significant contributions to the Association or the profession at large over an extended period of time.
Eligibility – Only Active or Honorary Life members of the Association shall be eligible for the award. No individual shall be a recipient of the award more than once.
Pharmacist of the Year Award
Criteria: To recognize a pharmacist for outstanding professional activities undertaken during the current or previous calendar year which resulted in a demonstrable benefit to the profession of pharmacy.
Eligibility: Only Active or Honorary Life members of the Association shall be eligible for nominations and receipt of this award.
Professional Promotion Award
Criteria: To recognize individuals or organizations who have exhibited outstanding efforts to demonstrate the importance of pharmacy as a health care profession and which promote the proper application of pharmacists' professional services.
Eligibility: Open to persons or organizations.
Distinguished Young Pharmacist of the Year Award
Criteria: To recognize a young pharmacist's outstanding contribution to the profession and/or community.
Eligibility: The recipient must be an Active member of the Association. The recipient must be licensed to practice for nine years or less. The recipient must have a valid, active license to practice in Kentucky. The recipient must have demonstrated participation in a national pharmacy association, professional program(s), and/or community service.
Excellence in Innovation Award Sponsored by Upsher-Smith Laboratories
Criteria: To recognize a pharmacist who has demonstrated innovative pharmacy practice resulting in improved patient care in the previous year or over an extended period of time.
Eligibility: A recipient must be a pharmacist who is an Active or Honorary Life member of the Association. A recipient may receive the award more than once.
Technician of the Year Award
Criteria: To recognize a Certified Pharmacy Technician for outstanding professional activities.
Eligibility: Only active Pharmacy Technician members of the Association shall be eligible for nomination
