Board of Pharmacy Issues Regulation with New Reporting Requirements for Ambulatory Pharmacies

The Kentucky Board of Pharmacy has introduced a new regulation (201 KAR 2:416) requiring annual reporting of cost-of-dispensing data for all ambulatory pharmacies, effective March 1, 2026. This regulation includes the submission of detailed operational costs, such as labor, materials, facilities, and other expenses related to prescription dispensing.

Pharmacies may also opt to report prescription-specific claims data, including payment details and retroactive fees, through an optional submission process. All required data will be submitted electronically using the Board's designated forms, which will be available in December 2025.

Key dates and actions:

  • Effective Date: March 1, 2026
  • Public Hearing: February 26, 2025, via Zoom
  • Comment Deadline: February 28, 2025

Your attention to this regulation is crucial to ensure compliance. We encourage members to review the details and provide feedback during the public hearing or comment period.
