Yesterday, Senator Max Wise (R-Campbellsville) filed SB 188, AN ACT relating to patient access to pharmacy benefits. After years of education, Congressional hearings, and tireless advocacy by KPhA members like you, we have now witnessed the first step toward comprehensive PBM reform this session!
SB 188 includes provisions to protect patient pharmacy choice by prohibiting steering, to ensure patient pharmacy access by requiring that PBMs contract with any willing pharmacy, and to guarantee transparent and fair reimbursements to all pharmacies from all PBMs by setting a “floor” or minimum payment.
The time is now! The climate has never been better for achieving this policy goal, which has been our profession's top legislative priority for years. We need your help to get this bill across the finish line!
